About
Compiz Fusion is a collection of plugins and a configuration system for the Compiz compositing window manager for the X Window System. It was created from the remerging of Beryl into Compiz. It aims to port almost all of the features of Beryl to Compiz plugins, and continue to write further Compiz plugins.
There has yet to be an official release of Compiz Fusion, but preliminary packages are available.
The current website is at OpenCompositing, but it is expected to change soon to a more specific domain.

Just now my RSS reader pops up a post at Ubuntu Planet, making it clear that compiz will come by default in Ubuntu 7.10, which is to be released in October.
